Meet the Tendos.. your average, run-of-the-mill Japanese family. Along with his three lovely daughters- Akane, Nabiki, and Kasumi- patriarch Soun Tendo is the proud owner of the "Tendo Anything-Goes Martial Arts Training Hall," where literally anything can and will happen
When an old friend Genma Saotome comes for a visit, it seems the long-awaited formal bethroval between one of the Tendo girls and Genma's teenaged son, Ranma, will finally take place. Youngest daughter, Akane- who says she hates boys- is nominated by her sisters for bridal duty.
Unfortunately, Ranma and his father suffered from a strange accident on a recent martial arts training trip in China. They both plunged into one of the many "accursed" springs which transforms the unlucky swimmer into whoever- or whatever- drowned there hundreds of years ago.
From now on, a splash of cold water turns Ranma's father into a furry, giant Panda, and Ranma... well, Ranma becomes a beautiful, busty youg woman. Hot water reverses the effect- but only until the next time...
