Claudia Meets Her Soul Mate

Claudia walked down the streets of town in the middle of the night, searching for something to do. She saw a small coffee shop on the corner of the street and decided to grab a coffee. She would have prefered something other than a coffee, but she figured there'll be mortals in there she can have afterwards.

She opened the door and instantly cigarette smoke flew into her face. There were still many people in the coffee shop and at least 80% of them were smoking. She sat down on the stool at the bar-like part of the coffee shop, next to a rather attractive man.

"Hello," the man said politely.

"Hello," Claudia said in her infamous soft voice. This man was one of the few mortals that wasn't smoking at the moment.

"What are you doing out at this ungodly hour?" the man asked.

"I'm always out at this hour," Claudia replied harshly.

"Sorry," the man apologised.

"So, are you buying me a coffee, or does a helpless girl like myself have to pay for it herself?" Claudia told, more than asked, him.

"Oh, yeah, sure," the man smiled at her and called for the waiter.

"How do you take it?" The waiter asked.

"Surprise me," Claudia told the man.

"Surprise us," the man told the waiter.

"Alright, your funeral," the waiter turned to the coffee machine.

"So, what's your name?" the man asked Claudia.

"I don't give out my personal information without hearing the other party's first," Claudia smiled, which shocked even herself. She didn't smile for anybody.

The man laughed a bit, "Alright, my name's Justin. Now can I have your name?" Justin asked.

"Claudia," Claudia responded. She then realized that she just gave out her real name. An uncommon thing for immortals such as herself.

"Pretty name," Justin responded. "Have I met you before?"

Claudia paused. She was having the feeling of déja-vu. "I don't.. think so." But she would've remembered.

She took note of his features. Short, blonde, spiky hair. A muscular, slim body. He wore dark sunglasses, though it was night, but she could still see the blue in his eyes.

Just then, another man, a scruffy looking man, entered the coffee shop. He paused as he saw Claudia. She remembered this man quite well, as she did most of the people she met. She had drained the blood of his attractive mortal son in front of his eyes.

"Shit!" The man yelled, "It's the blood-sucking bitch from hell!"

In a movement too quick for any of the mortals in the coffee shop to see, she lunged at him. She placed her hand over his mouth, "Shut up," she hissed.

The others in the coffee shop started to panic and head for the exits. In a few short moments, the coffee shop was empty, aside from the waiter, Justin, and the scruffy man.

Justin stood there in shock. Claudia turned to him, "Stay here, I'll be back in a minute. Don't leave," She left with the man she held with her hand.

She jerked the scruffy man out of the coffee shop using only her hand which was still over his mouth.

"Big mistake," she told him as soon as they were out of sight from any mortals. "If you'd have kept your mouth shut, you would've lived to see tomorrow. But you didn't. Scared?"

The man looked at her frightened. She jerked his head to the side and slowly moved her head to his neck. The man was quivering. Her fangs grew longer, and she looked more evil then she did in the coffee shop. Her fangs pierced his neck and entered his vein. She started sucking out his blood, slowly enough to cause suffering.

She saw his mind clearly in that state. He was thinking of his son, and how he died the same way. "Don't worry, you'll be joining him soon," she told him, only, not through her vocal chords. She placed the thought in his head, which caused him to quiver more. In a few short minutes he was limp, dead.

She let him fall to the ground. She took her fingernail and pierced it through her finger, to let blood fall on his wounded neck. The wound healed, but he was still dead, with no blood.

She walked back in the coffee shop. Justin looked at her, almost frightened, but in a trusting way.

"He won't bother us anymore," she told him.

They finished their coffees and left to Kryntra's apartment. She felt something in this mortal that she doesn't reconise. Kryntra was the eldest of the group, she would know.

They were driving in Justin's convertable. The wind blowing through their hair. It was a nice car, Claudia noticed.

"Stop here," Claudia told Justin, pointing to the building with Kryntra's apartment.

He pulled in the driveway. Claudia pulled open the locked door without effort.
